A FRESH weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for Wrexham and Flintshire this week.

A series of weather warnings have been in place across the region over the past week, for snow and ice, wind and rain.

Storm Isha hit North Wales over the weekend, with spells of strong winds and heavy rain expected to last until lunchtime today (January 22).

Now, the weather experts have issued a new yellow warning for wind which is set to come into effect on Tuesday.

The warning is in place from 4pm on Tuesday until 12pm on Wednesday, with the Met Office stating the reason for the updated warning was due to an increased impact.

The Met Office have again warned people what they can expect later this week:

  • Some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs, could happen
  • Power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage
  • Injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties
  • Some roads and bridges may close
  • Road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible

A number of roads were closed across Wrexham and Flintshire over the weekend due to the wind, with more possibly expected later this week.

"Winds are likely to gust 50-60 mph. There is potential for winds to gusts 60-70 mph in a few places, although it is not yet clear where the most likely location for the stronger winds is at this time.
