A BROKEN down vehicle sparked heavy congestion on the A483 in Wrexham this morning.

Traffic Wales said the incident occurred southbound at J1 Ruabon, sparking a lane closure.

The vehicle was recovered by 9.15am, but heavy congestion remained in both directions for around 45 minutes afterwards.

According to Google's live traffic maps, the congestion is stretched from the England-Wales border to the Ruabon junction.

Motorists took social media to state that they had been queueing for 45 minutes, and that the incident involved a broken down HGV.

The congestion has now cleared and traffic is flowing freely in the area.
