THE TEAM behind one of Wrexham's newest bars says it has some 'very special' plans ahead for 2024.

The Midland, on High Street, was officially opened to the public in early December.

The site was formerly the home of the North and South Wales Bank Wetherspoon pub until January of 2023.

The venue now has a “sports bar” feel to it, with over 30 TV screens on show, as well as pool tables, and dart boards being dotted around the place.

The drinks menu also pays plenty of homage to Wrexham AFC with the likes of 'The Mullin' and 'The Hollywood' on offer via its cocktail range.

Now, The Midland's owners Sam and Marcus Ansloos are looking to take the business even further in 2024.

Their plans include introducing a new menu, via a new chef, and moving the toilets downstairs - something that had been requested by many customers after the opening day.

Reflecting on its first month in 2023 and looking ahead to 2024, a statement from The Midland read: "HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! Thank you to everyone who has supported us since we opened.

"We have a very special 2024 planned! In particular, our new head chef Connor Brett and his team will be launching a brand new 100% fresh, locally sourced food menu on 1st February.

"We are also planning on moving the toilets downstairs later in the year!"

The Ansloos team also owns the Con's Club, in Ruabon which opened in 2021 and The Cefn Club in Cefn Mawr which opened in 2022.
