Bringing us up to the present day, December saw concerns raised about hundreds of gravestones and memorials across Flintshire which were found to be unsafe.

It was said that due to an absence of records and/or surviving family members, there are around 700 memorials in the county's cemeteries that require safety improvements.

Witnesses spoke of unbelievable scenes after a car crashed through the main entrance of Wrexham Maelor Hospital.

She said: "I saw the car ploughing straight into the doors and ran over to the hospital."

Heartfelt tributes were paid to a Flintshire mum who bravely fought terminal cancer.

Kelly Pendry, from Ewloe, was diagnosed with uterine leiomyosarcoma in 2021, several years after her symptoms began.

Wrexham Councillors voted in favour of adopting the county's Local Development Plan at an extraordinary council meeting.

It came after a Judge quashed two previous refusals of the plan by members.
Some councillors described the situation as a "sad" or "bad day for democracy" and after having their say, Plaid Cymru councillors walked out of the meeting to sit in the public gallery.

Despite some councillors not attending the meeting, the plan was ultimately adopted - with 26 votes for, 11 abstentions and no votes against.

The temporary stand was expected to have a capacity of 2,289 and accommodation for an additional 20 wheelchairs with access via Crispin Lane.

And firefighters were called out to tackle a blaze involving 17 vehicles in Prince William Avenue, Sandycroft.

Three crews attended the incident, the cause of which was believed to be accidental.
