FLINTHSIRE bin collections may change between Christmas and New Year for some households.

The council is recommending that households check their collection dates online, however, crews will be working longer hours over the festive period.

This may mean that collections may be later than usual.

On December 27, 28, 29 and 30, crews will be collecting until 5.30pm.

On January 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7, they will be collecting until 5.15pm.

There will also be extra vehicles assisting on each round so there may be occasions where residents think only one steam of recycling has been collected and the rest has been left, however, a second vehicle will be along later to collect the rest.

There are no collections on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s Day.

Collections usually due on Monday, 25 December, will now take place on Wednesday, December 27 for black bin and food waste.

Collections usually due on Tuesday, 26 December, will now take place on Thursday, December 28 for black bin and food waste.

Residents who are not due a black bin collection on Monday 25/Tuesday 26, food will be collected on the Wednesday/Thursday and recycling will be collected the following week along with the black bin.

All collections on week commencing January 1 will be pushed back by a day, for example collections usually due on Monday will be picked up on Tuesday.

Normal collection days will resume on Monday, January 8.

All household waste recycling centres will be open throughout the festive period except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Christmas Day (December 25) – Closed

Boxing Day (December26) – Closed

December 27 – 9am – 5pm

December 28 – 9am – 5pm

December 29 – 9am – 5pm

December 30– 9am – 5pm

New Year’s Eve (December 31) – 9am – 4:30pm

New Year’s Day ( January 1)– Closed
