A FLINTSHIRE community has started a fantastic activity inspiring a whole new generation to get reading.

Holywell Town Councillor Daniel Thomas has come up with the idea of a 'Book Exchange' to be used by everyone in the community.

The beautifully decorated hut, designed by Vic Apsley, is situated at the Strand Park and contains books for all ages.

There have been some illustrated hard back fiction books donated as well as fact-based books.

Cllr Thomas said: “As a town councillor of Holywell I’m always looking for ways to improve the community.

"As libraries are slowly disappearing and more and more children are getting glued to their phones, I thought this free book exchange would encourage children to read more.

"It also helps to recycle their books rather than they go to landfills.

"I want to say a big thank you to Vic who built this free of charge for the local children."

Anyone can donate books by simply dropping them off at the hut and taking a book already there in return.
