A NORTH WALES Senedd Member is backing an apprentice recruitment campaign by one of the area’s largest employers.

Airbus, with a factory based in Broughton, is holding an Apprenticeship Careers Day on site this Saturday, December 9 from 1.30-4.30pm.

And Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales is a keen supporter of apprenticeship schemes.

He said: “This is a wonderful chance for those who are interested in a career within the aviation industry to find out more about the opportunities on offer.

“The open day is aimed at school leavers and those who are keen to take on an apprenticeship and earn as they learn, something which I fully support.

“Airbus, is an extremely successful company and one of the biggest employers in North Wales and employs more than 4,000 staff at the Broughton site."

He added: “Apart from the number of people working in the factory this also has a knock on effect for the local economy. It is also very good news to see the company continuing to invest in future generations.

“Airbus’ factory produces the wings for all its aircraft including the A350 and is recognised all over the world as providing first class aircraft.

“I would urge anyone interested in a career in the aviation industry to sign up and register for the event on Saturday.”

Airbus is offering several different craft and technical apprenticeships in areas including aerostructures, aircraft systems and mechanical and electrical maintenance.

The undergraduate degree apprenticeships include opportunities in engineering and business.
