A COMMUNITY council has thanked all those who came out to support its Christmas tree lights switch on event.

Towns and villages across both Flintshire and Wrexham have been busy switching their Christmas lights on over the last week or so.

And the big day over in Queensferry took place for only the second time annually this afternoon (Saturday, December 2).

The Leader: PIC: The lights are on in Queensferry!

After the success of last year's 'Tree Lighting' event, this year's unfolded at the war memorial institute and was well-attended by residents.

Residents were also invited to see Santa and his elves, as well as enjoy plenty of refreshments and a raffle.

Commenting on the event, Queensferry Community Council said: "Thank you to everyone who came out today and supported us and Santa Deeside Round Table with switch on of the Christmas Lights at Queensferry War Memorial Institute."
