NINE people have been arrested following a joint police operation in Flintshire.

Earlier this week, officers from North Wales Police's Flintshire North team held a day of action in the area under the banner of Merseyside Police’s Operation Medusa – set up to target County Lines.

Police said six residential properties were searched and five people were arrested for offences including being concerned in dealing Class A and B drugs, possession with intent to supply drugs, possession of a bladed article and possession of drugs.

Four drug and drink driving arrests were also made on the day, in addition to 13 stop searches and two vehicles being seized.

Flintshire North Chief Inspector Emma Parry said: “The recent positive activity comes on the back of the work we’re carrying out day in, day out to arrest those involved in this type of criminality and shut down County Lines.

“It is another example of the success achieved by our close partnership with Merseyside Police.

“Those who become involved in crime risk facing the consequences. When we identify vulnerable, exploited people during our enquiries, we ensure they are treated with sensitivity and understanding, and are offered the appropriate support. Our primary target is those who seek to use them for their own selfish gain."

She added: “We will continue to disrupt and dismantle the activities of these Organised Crime Groups as there is no place for them in North Wales."
