THE Country Food Trust (CFT) has launched its fifth annual Winter Appeal, aimed at raising essential funds to provide nutritious, protein-rich meals to those facing food insecurity during the challenging winter months.

Food insecurity is still on the rise as the cost of living crisis bites for a second winter.

The Country Food Trust, a registered charity, remains committed to alleviating this by delivering high protein nutritious meals in ambient pouches to those in need.

As well as Wrexham Foodbank, organisations that The Country Food Trust supports in Wales include Ammanford Foodbank, Caerphilly Foodbank and Canolfan Maerdy.

Wrexham's Foodbank opened in 2012 and has provided thousands of meals to those in need across the county.

It provides three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis.

The Country Food Trust's CEO, SJ Hunt, said: “There is unlimited demand for our high protein ambient meals. Every pound donated through the Winter Appeal goes towards producing and distributing these fantastic meals to help feed people in need.

"Your generosity will make a difference to those facing food insecurity."

Protein is the most important food group for human health, but it is also the most expensive, which is why people with stretched finances reduce this food group first.

As a food poverty charity, their main goal is to raise funds to provide high protein nutritious meals to those in need.

They distribute these meals to foodbanks for further distribution to those who require them, as well as donating raw meat to community kitchens and larger foodbanks that have relevant storage and cooking facilities.
