He said: "He's obviously been non-verbal since he was born, he's never really developed his speech yet and even now he doesn't use his voice to communicate.

"Luckily it was my birthday on the 6th November and we got a video sent home from school.

"They're talking about books and 'which one does the teddy want to read?' and so forth, and they say 'party', but Albi associates party with happy birthday.

"So next minute on the video Albi starts singing Happy Birthday. He's never done it before and I get the video and my partner shows me on my birthday.

"There's floods of tears in the living room, but he's just starting to try and put some words together now.

"He's happy and that's the main thing as there's no pressure."
