FLINTSHIRE residents are patiently awaiting this year's special production of Sleeping Beauty The Rock 'n' Roll Panto.

This is the sixth panto written by Christian Patterson at Theatr Clwyd in Mold with comic quips and quick wit that never disappoints.

A conversation with Christian has revealed that discussions about Sleeping Beauty began in October 2021, highlighting the time and preparation that goes into the annual shows.

He said: "I seem to start writing pantos earlier and earlier now, but it was particularly important with Sleeping Beauty because we all knew that moving from a “traditional” theatre to a Big Top was going to present all departments with a whole array of challenges that would need to be negotiated. It’s all part of the panto package!"

There's always a valuable lesson to be learned from pantomimes, and this year's Sleeping Beauty will be no different.

Christian strives to keep the moral and tone of the tale at the heart of the production before allowing his genius creativity to take over.

He said: "Pantomimes are morality tales really. Good verses bad. I always start by reading the original book."

The family show will have something for everyone this year. Beautiful scenery, incredible costumes, great music, spectacular lighting, plenty of laughs, great characters, and the chance to boo and hiss and get involved.

Christian continues: "My favourite character is…the audience! The audience is the character that can change a panto every single show! The show relies on their involvement and every single person on that stage knows it."

The shows put on at Flintshire's Theatr Clwyd would not be possible without the continued support of the audience who come back year after year.

Over 22,000 tickets have already been booked for this year's show which promises to be the best yet, according to Christian.

Sleeping Beauty Rock 'n' Roll will run from November 30 until January 6 for one Christmas only and is not to be missed.
