A FLINTSHIRE woman is "absolutely thrilled" after co-authoring a children's Christmas book which has reached best-seller status.

Nicky Kilnan, who lives in Sealand, was one of 24 authors to write short Christmas stories for children compiled into The Enchanted Christmas Treasury book.

Each of the 24 inclusive, magical and diverse stories for children aged five to eight, means there is one for every day of Advent.

All proceeds raised from sales of The Enchanted Christmas Treasury will help fund the work of SENStory, a UK-wide not-for-profit Community Interest Company, helping children, young people, and families with Special Educational Needs navigate their journeys in nature through therapy, play, learning and training opportunities.

And the book, published earlier this month, has quickly risen to Amazon number 1 best seller status.

Nicky's story focuses on a child whose father is a member of the armed forces and is away from home. The child's wish is for his father to return home for Christmas - and he sets out on an adventure alongside his teddy bear after he comes to life in a Christmas miracle.

Nicky, aged 50, said: "I’m from a forces family and wanted something for children to feel like they are not alone if they have parents who are away.

"I am absolutely thrilled the book made number 1 best seller in more than one category. This book represents so many children, who may not feel seen or included at Christmas.

"To be part of a legacy that will be part of children’s Christmas’ for years to come makes me feel so proud. And because it is helping a wonderful children’s charity is all the more special."

She added: "The aim is for parents to read one story a day to children to start new traditions and have some screen-free time."
