Llay Park CP School
The Wrexham primary school has been thanked for its continued support of its local community football club.
Pupils at Llay Park CP School have once again created a large Guy Fawkes for the Llay Welfare Football Club ahead of its annual Bonfire Night Extravaganza.
One of Llay’s elected members, Cllr Rob Walsh, who is also a governor at the school, was on hand to help with the collection of the Guy.

Cllr Walsh said: “Collecting the school’s Guy has become an annual event and long may it continue. Once again, I cannot praise our pupils enough for the quality of the Guy they have made.
“Not only are they serving their community with their work, but it is giving them practical experience as well as contributing to their education.”
Llay Welfare FC representative Gavin Davies was also very grateful to the pupils for their hard work and support of the club.
He added: “The Bonfire Night Extravaganza is the club’s big night of the year. The monies raised help keep our club going and but more importantly it is there to bring our community together.
“The evening also attracts many visitors from other communities, so it is our opportunity to really put Llay on the map. I cannot begin to thank the pupils of Llay Park CP School for what they have done. Not only the big Guy but the little ones they have made too.
“It is almost a shame to put them on the bonfire but that’s the purpose of the occasion. Massive thank you also to Kent Supplies for their support by sponsoring the event.”
The Bonfire Night Extravaganza will take place at Llay Miners Welfare on Friday, November 3. Gates open at 5.30pm, bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm and the firework display will begin at 7pm. There will also be fairground rides, hot food stalls and kids disco.
Ysgol Bro Alun, Gwersyllt
Recently the Wrexham primary school celebrated 10 years since the opening of the Welsh school in Gwersyllt.
The early years unit celebrated by having a small concert on the school yard for parents and guardians to come and watch.
They had also been busy shopping in Lidl and preparing food for the party they had in the afternoon. And a big thank you to the kitchen staff for preparing party food too. On the Wednesday evening the PTA organised a disco, and the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Years 1 and 2 prepared items for a time capsule to be buried under the oak tree they planted, so generations to come can watch the tree grow. They also invited parents in to share this special occasion and entertained them with songs and dance.
The older children in the school went on a treasure hunt around the local community with their friends and families, looking for clues to spell out a birthday message.
On the Friday morning celebrations culminated with a birthday cake and jamboree with Martyn Geraint. Catrin from Dosbarth Bran described the morning as "the best day ever".
Tesco kindly donated daffodil bulbs so each child can plant one of the flowers, which will will remind the school community every spring of their anniversary celebrations.
Ysgol Ty Ffynnon, Deeside
Year 5 pupils at the Flintshire primary school recently went to Connah's Quay High with other local schools from the consortium, to take part in a two-day Creative Arts Days workshop.
The children took part in a range of activities based around the theme of Harry Potter. Children took part in circus skills, singing and dancing, plus lots of different art and craft activities, including making their own wands and masks.
Pupils then showcased their work in a performance to the high school pupils and invited headteachers from their own schools. All of the children had a fantastic time and it was a wonderful opportunity to visit their local high school to help with transition when they move up in Year 7.
• Children at the school are given the opportunity to attend weekly after school clubs linked to the areas of the Curriculum for Wales.
In Wellbeing club this week they made sensory bags, which the children really enjoyed.
Acton Park Primary School, Wrexham
The school celebrated harvest ahead of half term, through a whole school assembly, with children sharing harvest songs during the service.
Families of the children at Acton Park were very generous and made donations of food items for the foodbank.
It was fantastic to share such a kind and joyful occasion with everyone at school.
Ysgol Penygelli, Coedpoeth
Eco Club members from the Wrexham primary school joined volunteers from Coedpoeth recently, to carry out a local litter pick.
The children were amazed and saddened at how many bags of litter they managed to collect!
Ysgol Rhiwabon, Wrexham
Year 11 had their main mock interviews before half term, with 20 local employers.
Each student had their CV, and allotted time slot, for an interview with an employer, as a taste of what interviews in the work place may feel like.
Careers Wales, led by Lesley Lloyd, helped arrange for the employers to attend, and co-ordinated with assistant headteacher Helen Sava on arrangements for the day.
Mrs Sava said: ''Feedback from employers was very positive about the students, their CVs and the event. I was delighted that so many local companies could attend and lend 'real world' experience to our students, and I thank them for their time and commitment."
