AN INQUEST has opened into the death of a young Flintshire man who died on the railway line.

Kai Davies, of Maes Pennant, Mostyn, died on the railway track near the junction of Dock Road in Mostyn on October 22.

At County Hall in Ruthin on Monday (October 30), an inquest was opened into the 22-year-old's death.

John Gittins, senior coroner for North Wales East and Central, said it had been reported to him that Mr Davies was on the tracks where he was struck by an oncoming train - sadly causing an immediate fatality which was confirmed upon arrival of the emergency services at 3.49pm.

A provisional cause of death following a post-mortem examination is multiple fatal injuries.

A full inquest has been adjourned until a later date.
