A team of over 20 people is taking on a Big Atlantic Row in aid of charity.

Through the month of October, the team is rowing the width of the Atlantic Ocean, which is 4,800km, at Wrexham gyms in aid of Target Ovarian Cancer.

They include James Case and Richard William who are the ring leaders of the challenges along with Rebecca Hedley, Mairi Chaplin and Amanda Roberts.

The team usually takes on a “crazy charity challenge” every year to raise money for local charities. Donations to this year's fundraiser can be made on their Justgiving page here. So far they have raised more than £1,600 towards their £2,000 target.

To reach the target distance, they have to row 10km+ every day throughout the month.

They said: “We’re doing this in aid of Target ovarian cancer because each year 7,400 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the UK. This is normally done through a simple blood test or ultrasound scan of the ovaries and tummy when experiencing symptoms of ovarian cancer multiple times through a month. These symptoms include - bloating, feeling full quickly/no appetite, pelvic or abdominal pain and urinary symptoms.

“The stats - 1 in 50 women are likely to be diagnosed with Ovarian cancer in their lifetime and the chances of this being fatal are 1 in 108 women. Which we can all admit is too many.

"Now if we can help just 1 woman with either early awareness or with treatment through this challenge it’ll be amazing.”
