HOLYWELL'S much-loved Jamaican restaurant has won Travellers Choice Award 2023.

'Up A Yard' has not only been ranked number one in Holywell, Flintshire, but has been recognised in the top 10% of restaurants worldwide.

The Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice Award is based on customer reviews, and comes only a few months after the restaurant received the Best World Cuisine category at the Wales Food Awards.

Restaurant owner, Charlotte Stanley, 28, started the business during lockdown as a delivery and takeaway service. She is both the owner and the chef of the restaurant, cooking as well as managing behind the scenes of her business.

She said: "I just want to say from the bottom of my heart thank you to each and every diner that has commented or left a review.

"The reviews are sometimes like a paragraph and literally seconds after leaving the restaurant, so that just shows how much people love their experience at Up A Yard.

"Most of all, I want to thank my girls who work with me for always giving top service and listening to my wants and needs and making it happen with me, as a team."

Charlotte offers a unique Jamaican experience at her restaurant situated next to St Winefrides Well where she still works locally with the Church at Christmas to offer free meals and cooking classes to local non-profitable organisations.

She feels blessed that her customers, both regular guests and new faces, recognise the hard work and love that goes into the food.

The open kitchen set up means Charlotte gets to socialise with the customers which she describes as the best part. Up A Yard also offers weekends of live music and fresh cocktails.
