A FAMOUS face tried his first ever chip butty when he popped into a Wrexham chippy recently.

Adam Richman is recognised worldwide for being the star of the 'Man v. Food' show.

Over the years, the American presenter has taken on numerous incredible food-based challenges, wowing viewers along the way.

But one of his latest trips brought him to Wrexham, where he watched Wrexham take on Newcastle United's under 21's in the EFL Trophy.

As well as that, Richman also visited the Turf - where he met landlord Wayne Jones - and popped into the Wrexham Lager brewery.

But, it was at a Wrexham chippy where he was really treated to yet another lesson in fine dining.

During his visit to the popular Jones' Fish & Chip Shop, he donned his very own apron and tried what was apparently his first-ever chip butty.

The chippy's Emma Gaffey said: "I unfortunately wasn't here when Adam visited but the girls loved meeting him. We didn't know he was coming in so it was a surprise.

"He came in and had some food. He had never had a chip butty before, so he had his very first one here.

"He even wore his own pinny to take pictures with us. Everyone said that he was so down to earth and lovely."

Jones' Fish & Chip Shop, based at St. George's Crescent, has been running since 1911.

Man v. Food premiered on December 3, 2008 on the Travel Channel, with Richman rising to fame as its original host.

In each episode, he explored the "big food" offerings of a different American city before facing off against a pre-existing eating challenge at a local restaurant.

Travel Channel revived the series in 2017, with Casey Webb replacing Richman as host.
