THE MAYOR of Mold has issued an appeal for residents to consider recycling school uniform as the academic year draws to a close.

Cllr Teresa Carberry will once again be collecting local school uniforms to be recycled for families to take advantage of, at the Daniel Owen Community Centre this weekend.

The school uniform recycling scheme has in the past proved to be an effective way of helping families during the cost-of-living crisis whilst also having a positive lasting impact on the environment, meaning less uniform will go to landfill.

Cllr Carberry said: "The excitement in the air is almost tangible, as this week marks the end of another school year, with the prospect of the long summer holidays ahead, clearly on everyone’s mind.

"As Mayor of Mold, I do have a small ask of you all. Please consider recycling school uniform, that is gently worn, clean, free of stains, rips, with buttons and zips intact, and that includes shoes, trainers and football boots!

"All of the above items will be gratefully received between 10am and 2pm, by me personally, at the Daniel Owen Community Centre this coming Saturday 22nd July.

"Please continue to support this initiative, as you have all done so in the past, saving both landfill sites and an unnecessary financial burden to so many in our community.

"It only works because of your efforts and generosity.

I look forward to meeting you on Saturday!"

The collection will take place from 10am at the Daniel Owen Communtiy Centre, Mold.
