The Ysgol Gwynedd Rams competed in the Flintshire and Denbighshire NFL Flag Tournament at Holywell Town Football ground earlier this month.

The Rams went undefeated, reaching the final against Ewloe Green. After defeating Ewloe Green 27-0 in the final, they move on to reach the NFL Flag Championships in London at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium today (June 28) where they will play the best teams from around the country in the final.

This is the third time Ysgol Gwynedd has reached the National Championships and are hoping it will be third time lucky to win the trip to the USA and play the best teams from around the world.

This year the Rams have been helped by sponsorship that has allowed them to purchase equipment to train during the year.

Pupils from Rhosymedre School learnt about water safety at Plas Madoc Leisure Centre.

Year 6 pupils at the Wrexham school attended Plas Madoc Leisure Centre to learn the importance of water safety, as part of the Royal Life Saving Society's Drowning Prevention Week.

With instructors Simon Richards, operations manager and duty officer Georgia Barnett, the pupils learnt about the dangers of water, how to keep themselves safe, how they can help if someone gets into difficulty, how to preserve themselves, learn various floating techniques, moving to safety and climbing out.

They also learned how they can help someone in difficulty (without getting into the water themselves) using a variety of rescue aids (reach pole, throw rope, torpedo buoy) and learn the importance of calling for help (999).

Another part to the session included a practical CPR session, learning how to check a casualty, how to decide if they need CPR or not, when to call for help, and, using their own CPR manikin, how to carry out effective CPR.

Children at the Flintshire primary school delved into the digital world to create podcasts and vlogs with Welsh Language TV and radio presenter, Ameer Davies-Rana in his pop-up language fair.

The children were able to use their everyday Welsh language to discuss their hobbies and interests, before using the sound and video booths to create their own mini radio shows, video diaries and podcasts, where they could turn their conversations into digital content, which they hope to be able to use in future Welsh-Language workshops for their parents and carers.

Ameer is currently on a quest to achieve a further million Welsh speakers across Wales through his campaign, 1Miliwn, and he managed to inspire the children into speaking more Welsh and understand the benefits of being bilingual in his workshops.

Musical artist and author Leisa Mererid came into school to lead a variety of yoga, singing and storytime, with pupils from the nursery and reception class joining in.

There will be a number of activities throughout the morning to entertain children, including a session from Mudiad Meithrin, Menter Iaith and the Urdd. A warm welcome to all.
