A FOOTBALL coach who has dedicated countless hours to the beautiful game is the latest to receive a prize which highlights Wrexham's community heroes.

The F Jones Initiative prize recognises those who contribute most to the Wrexham community and was originally established by Wrexham Lager and F Jones Food Service.

It highlights a community hero every month - and the latest prize was handed to Andrew Ruscoe last week.

According to the firm, that was in recognition of the 'tremendous work' he puts in, as founder member, chairman, manager, fundraiser, social media advertiser and coach of FC United Of Wrexham.

The F Jones Initiative team said: "Andrew and the club pride themselves on giving back to the community, helping those who need support with things like CV’s and supporting those who may be isolated and suffering with their mental health.

"Andrew tells us that his main goal is to give people of Wrexham opportunities that he never had, bring outside funding to the area, give back to the community and make people happy. Well done Andrew, we love this!"

Upon receiving the award, Mr Ruscoe, who volunteers on average 38 hours per week, was keen to point out that he is grateful for the support of those around him.

He said: "I am incredibly fortunate to have won this prestigious award, but I firmly believe that there are many other deserving individuals in our community who are equally, if not more, worthy of this recognition.

"I am humbled by the unwavering support of the parents, mentors, coaches, and most importantly, the remarkable young athletes who have placed their trust in me.

"Their dedication, hard work, and belief in our team's potential have been the driving force behind any success we have achieved.

"Winning this award is not a testament to my individual efforts, but rather a reflection of the incredible community we have here in Wrexham. It is the result of the combined dedication, sacrifices, and hard work of every player, parent, and supporter who has stood by our side.
