AN ADVICE charity is looking for volunteers to help in its Holywell and Deeside office.

This week marks the 39th annual Volunteers' Week, when Citizens Advice Flintshire joins thousands of charities and voluntary organisations recognising the contribution volunteers make across the UK.

With this year’s theme of ‘Celebrate and Inspire’ the charity hopes to encourage people to get involved in volunteering whichever way works best for them.

Citizens Advice Flintshire laid on a special ‘thank you’ buffet and get-together on June 1 at its Connah’s Quay offices to celebrate the contribution of its volunteers.

Salli Edwards, CEO, was on hand to personally meet all volunteers and Advice Supervisor, Sara Jones, thanked everyone for their continued commitment and contribution throughout the year.

A spokesman for the organisation said: "Thanks largely to a grant from the WCVA, we’re recruiting volunteer assessors and are hoping to hear from local people interested in helping Flintshire residents deal with a range of issues.

"The problems we help with are mainly debt, benefits, energy, employment, discrimination etc.

"We welcome inquiries from anyone who feels they have transferable skills, life experience and time they could offer to help support and advise local people towards finding solutions to a wide range of problems.

"Additional to volunteer assessor, we are looking for a volunteer database administrator, where accuracy is key.

"Volunteers play an extremely valuable role in the free and confidential service we provide to our clients; in recognition, we will offer full training and do our utmost to provide a friendly and supportive environment in return."

Initially, the charity is looking for people to work out of its Holywell and Deeside office and anyone interested in finding out more about the opportunities for volunteering can email training@flintshirecab.org.uk or telephone Sophie, learning support and admin coordinator, on 01352 706841.
