THE HUGELY-popular Welcome to Wrexham series has been nominated for a coveted National Television Award.

The eyes of the world have been on the football club - and indeed the Wrexham community - ever since actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney became co-chairmen in 2021.

And the series, produced by Boardwalk Pictures and Maximum Effort, helped sky-rocket the Reds' reputation to new heights when it was released last year.

Aired on Disney Plus, Welcome to Wrexham followed the rollercoaster of a ride endured by Wrexham AFC down the years, as well as the takeover by Rob and Ryan.

But, it also highlighted the many characters in and around the Racecourse who help make the Wrexham community what it is today.

From Turf landlord Wayne Jones to painter Shaun Winter and everyone in between, the series touched the lives of many.

Wrexham band Declan Swans have also enjoyed an astronomical rise following their appearance on the show. They will be gigging with American rock legends Kings of Leon at the Racecourse this Bank Holiday weekend.
