A BUCKLEY man has issued an appeal ahead of organising an operation which will see seven 4x4 vehicles travel to deliver supplies to Ukraine.

Esmor Davies, 78, is arranging for items such as tools, jump leads, shovels, clothing, blankets, generators and other pieces of equipment to be transported from Buckley on Monday, May 29.

He is urging local residents to help out in the efforts if able to by dropping off items.

Esmor, who has been involved in charitable efforts for a long time said: "I have been involved in efforts such as this for over 35 years and I wanted to help Ukraine as this war and the affect it is having is through no fault of their own.

"We will be leaving next Monday (May 29). I'm really excited about it, every vehicle is going to benefit thousands of people."

Esmor, who will be making the journey himself to Ukraine alongside other drivers made up of farmers and construction workers said that age is just a number and doesn't deter him.

"It's a long journey for 78 years of age but I'm not worried about that. I'd like to thank Llyr Jones, I'm so grateful for his help and I'd also like to thank our sponsors at Smurfit Kappa in Mold.

"Any donations are much appreciated and we are grateful for any help.

"It's a very important cause and one which we are happy to help in any way we can. We also plan to return again in July."
