POLICE have recovered the body of a man from the River Dee in Chester, following a large-scale emergency effort on Thursday, May 18.
Police, fire and ambulance teams were deployed to the River Dee at 4.43pm following reports an individual was in the river by The Groves, Chester.
Five fire engines were deployed, with crews using a rescue boat and raft to help in the search and further crews in place up and downstream of the river to assist.
A police underwater search and rescue team was later deployed to the scene.
Sadly, the body of a 44-year-old man was recovered.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "At 4.43pm on Thursday 18 May police were called to The Groves in Chester following reports of a man in the River Dee.
"Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and the police Underwater Search Team made a search of the river.
"Sadly, the body of a 44-year-old man was recovered from the water by the police search team. Next of kin have been informed.
"There are no suspicious circumstances and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
