DEMAND for houses in the Wrexham area has risen by 89% since the football club's promotion, new research has found.

With Wrexham AFC being promoted to EFL League Two after a 15 year absence, owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have been basking in the football team’s glory for the past few weeks.

But it seems the impact of the club’s promotion is also having an effect on the demand of properties in the area too.

The research also found that searches for “buy a house in Wrexham” are also up 75% year on year, proving the positive effects the club’s success is having on the local area.

Co-owner Ryan Reynolds is also believed to have bought a £1.5 million house in the village of Marford.

In light of this spike in searches, Colby Short, CEO and CoFounder of GetAgent, said: “Cultural events have an undeniable impact on us and how we live our lives, so it’s been really interesting to see just how big of an effect Wrexham’s recent sporting win has had on the desirability of the town, for buyers and tourists alike.

"The ‘Welcome To Wrexham’ documentary, backed by and starring the club’s celebrity owners will have undoubtedly helped to shine a spotlight on what otherwise is quite an underrated and undiscovered city near the Wales/England border.

"The surge in searches following the club’s recent promotion shows the impact pop culture events can have on the desirability of a destination - and sellers in the city will likely reap the benefits of this over the coming months and years!”
