Travel book sale

Summer and warmer weather are on the way. Has this got you thinking about where your next holiday will be? At Wrexham Library we have the solution. Along with our large collection of travel books for loan there is currently a sale of travel books withdrawn from stock. There are books to give you inspiration for your next holiday or, if you've already booked, to learn about the destination you are visiting. No holiday planned or booked? You can still escape to somewhere warm in your imagination by browsing a travel guide or travel memoir from Wrexham Library.

Chirk Library 50th anniversary celebration

Chirk Library will be celebrating its 50th anniversary on Thursday, May 18, with an open day, from 2.30pm-4pm. Wrexham Family Information Service, Chirk Library Writers Group, Chirk Leisure Centre, St. Mary's Church, The Rainbow Foundation and Cefn Mawr Museum will all be on hand to chat to customers and offer advice and share their knowledge. Come and join us for these celebrations which include light refreshments plus craft activities for children and much more. We'd love to see you there!

Wrexham Revealed: book launch - extra date added

Author David Ebsworth will talk about the new guidebook written specifically for visitors wanting to take self-guided tours of Wrexham's fascinating history, with 20 not-to-be-missed stopping points plus a batch of additional history walks from the city centre itself. All royalty proceeds from the sale of this fabulous publication help to fund the Carnival of Words literary festival, but why not just come along and hear a few of the wonderful stories you might not have come across before? The event will take place on Thursday, May 18, from 6pm, at Wrexham Library. The event will be free of charge but you must reserve your place, please call the library on 01978 292090.

Gwersyllt Library craft group

Do you like crafting and creating new things? If so then why not join the monthly craft group who meet at Gwersyllt Library on the first Wednesday of the month, from 2.30pm-4.30pm. There is no need to book, just turn up and enjoy the fun. Refreshments will be provided. For more details contact the library on 01978 722890.

Author event with Mike Parker

All the Wide Border by Mike Parker is a funny, warm and timely meditation on identity and belonging, following the scenic route along the England-Wales border. It is a personal journey through the places, amongst the people, and across the divides of the border lands. Mike will be talking about his book and passion for the area at Wrexham Library on Tuesday, May 23, at 4.30pm. This is a free event and all are welcome.
