A PERSON has been rescued after emergency services raced to a popular tourist attraction on Bank Holiday Monday.

Paramedics, police and firefighters from North Wales and Shropshire were called to Chirk Aqueduct earlier today (May 8).

The Welsh Air Ambulance was in attendance having been flown in from its Welshpool base at around 3.30pm and landed in the field at the foot of the aqueduct, while the Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed it was also in attendance but was unable to give further details.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were in attendance and helped to rescue an individual.

They were called to Station Road at around 3.30pm with two fire appliances, including the water rescue unit from Shrewsbury and Oswestry. An operations officer was also in attendance.
