AN environmental charity is helping the Wrexham community to adapt, recover and thrive, by encouraging more people to participate in cycling or walking for their wellbeing.

To celebrate Bike Week (June 5-11) Groundwork North Wales are organising a Pedal Power Parade at Alyn Waters Country Park, in Wrexham, thanks to National Lottery players.

Working with partner charities Pedal Power (Cycling 4 All) and Refurbs, Groundwork North Wales are asking local groups and businesses to decorate a bike for display around Alyn Waters Country Park. Bikes unable to be refurbished by Pedal Power and Refurbs will be provided to local groups and businesses to decorate reducing waste sent to landfill.

The decorated bikes will be on display for all to see by walking or cycling the parade route. A perfect opportunity to get outdoors and get active, to celebrate and support creativity, and connect people with others in the community.

Hanna Clarke, group head of marketing and events said: “We are looking forward to involving local groups and businesses in getting creative and decorating a bike that would have otherwise ended up in landfill.

"The Pedal Power Parade will provide an exciting opportunity for the community to celebrate and support creativity, connect people with the community and to get outdoors and get active."

Local groups and businesses are invited to decorate a bike with themes linked to 2023 such as the King’s Coronation, Eurovision or themes linked to Wrexham City, such as Wrexham AFC or the area's industrial heritage for example.
