RYAN Reynolds has revealed why he chose to buy Wrexham AFC in an emotional post-match interview.

The Reds secured their place back in the Football League on Saturday after a 3-1 win over Boreham Wood saw them crowned National League Champions.

After the game, the club's star co-owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, were interviewed by host broadcaster BT Sport.

Asked about his emotions, Ryan said: "One thing that's running through my head over and over is people said at the beginning 'why Wrexham?' - this what's happening right now is why."

Rob added: "We can hear how it feels to the town and that's what's most important to us.

"This is a moment of catharsis for them and celebration. And for us to have been welcomed into their community and into this experience has been the honour of my life."

A super Paul Mullin brace was enough to lift the Reds to the title after Elliot Lee had cancelled out Boreham Wood's first minute opener.

It means Wrexham travel to Torquay United next weekend as champions.
