THE team at a North Wales animal rescue centre is looking for new homes for their furry residents.

North Clwyd Animal Rescue (NCAR) have cats, dogs and some smaller animals, all hoping to find their forever home.

The staff and volunteers at the Trelogan-based charity, in Flintshire, know the animals as individuals, and therefore know what kind of home they are more likely to thrive in.

Whether it's a dog, cat, rabbit or guinea pig, staff are on hand to advise on the character and suitability of each.

They also make sure potential new owners are aware of the ongoing costs of a pet, including food and vet bills, which can often be for unexpected treatment.

But thankfully there are plenty of responsible, loving people and families looking to give an animal a loving new home.

And there are always animals of all types, ages and needs that will be the perfect match.

Here we meet six of the dogs at NCAR looking for a new home...

• For more details, please visit ncar.org.uk or if you would like to support the charity without adopting, you can visit their cafe, open from 10.30am to 3.30pm. They also accept donations at the centre between 10am and 4pm.

You can also help by fundraising, sponsoring a kennel or supporting one of the NCAR charity shops in the region.

Bonnie, looking for adoption at NCAR.

Bonnie, looking for adoption at NCAR.

• Three-year-old Bonnie came to the rescue due to ongoing disputes with the other resident dog. She is a sweet girl but can be quite nervous at times, and so will need a calm home where she can build her confidence, particularly when she is out and about. She is house trained and is generally well behaved in the home. She is only a young dog, so will need an active home with people who will give her a good chunk of daily exercise. She cannot be rehomed with dogs but she has lived with cats with no issues, so could be homed where there are resident cats. Bonnie is a really beautiful girl who needs her next home to be her final one.

Max, looking for adoption at NCAR.

• Max was returned to the rescue after 13 years as his owner died. He is a friendly 15-year-old boy who is quite spritely for his age. He will need a calmer home with someone who can take him for gentle walks to keep him happy. He does have a few lumps and bumps but nothing the vets are worried about. He is house trained and is generally a good boy in the home. Max is currently in a foster home but can be brought back on site for anyone interested in viewing him.

Charlie, looking for adoption at NCAR.

Charlie, looking for adoption at NCAR.

• Charlie is a beautiful six-year-old who was returned to the rescue due to having separation anxiety. We are unsure as to whether he does have separation anxiety or not, due to him settling eventually when the owners leave but we will be looking for a home where someone is around for most of the day and who can give Charlie the time and dedication he needs. He will need a lot of daily exercise and stimulation to keep him happy. He is completely house trained and will let you know when he needs to go out. He does have some aggression around food, so we will be looking for a home without children. The previous owners had said he has an inability to settle, so he will need a home where he will be shown how to do this but we will equip any new owners with the information needed to overcome this.

Winston, looking for adoption at NCAR.

• Five-year-old Winston is an anxious boy, returned to the rescue due to his owner's longer working hours and not being able to be left. For this reason, he will need a home where someone is around for most of the day. He is quite overweight, and was not walked in his previous home, which has meant he has high anxiety when being out and about. We are working on this, and trying to build his confidence but any potential adopter will need to continue this work to get him enjoying his walks. He has shown some aggression in his previous home to people coming in and the neighbours, so we will be looking for a home that will effectively manage this and build his confidence. Anyone interested in Winston will have to come to the rescue several times to get to know him and work alongside our behaviour team to be given the tools needed to improve his quality of life. He really is a gorgeous boy who needs a chance to enjoy life.

Frank, looking for adoption at NCAR.

Frank, looking for adoption at NCAR.

• Frank is a lovely seven-year-old dog who originally came to the rescue from the pound. He was rehomed but was returned for showing aggression towards visitors to the home. We believe this to be guarding behaviour and so anyone looking to adopt Frank would have to be prepared to work alongside our behaviour team to put a plan into place in the home. He is house trained and loves to run around our paddock chasing balls in proper collie fashion! He can be a nervous boy in certain situations, and he can be growly when being groomed, so we would be looking for a home who is also willing to desensitise him to the things he is scared of in a calm and positive way. He is ok with most dogs, but he has taken a disliking to some, so he would need to be kept controlled around other dogs. In the right home, we have no doubt Frank will make a wonderful pet.

Erin, looking for adoption at NCAR.

Erin, looking for adoption at NCAR.

• Two-year-old Erin came to the rescue via the pound. She is a fab girl who has lots of character. She is generally ok around other dogs, although in foster she did have some food aggression around the other dogs at times - so this would need to be managed in a home. She does love to play, so a home where there is another playful dog would be good. She was in foster with young children, and although she was ok with them, she wouldn’t settle when they are there, so a home with visiting children would be fine, but we feel she would be better suited to a calmer and quieter home. She is a really fun girl who deceivingly needs a lot of exercise. A home where she will get out exploring is an absolute must. She really is a fantastic dog with a lot to offer.
