A cake bakery in Shotton has announced it will close its shopfront due to cost increases across the board as well as low footfall in the shop.
Blooming Baked, located on Chester Road, opened its shop doors just six months ago.
Blooming Baked is the brainchild of Daniel Horton, and wife Danni, who initially launched their own business from home in Connah's Quay during the first lockdown under the name 'Blooming Brownies'.
After six months of running the shop location, the owners have decided to close the store and continue the business online in the future.
Daniel Horton said: “So shop closing is due to a mix of the typical cost increases across the board.
“The increase in ingredients is actually quite disgusting and where we are located, in Shotton, you just can’t increase prices of products to match this as they would cost just too much for the public.”
Another reason the couple cited for the closure was “extremely low” footfall, Daniel added: “I honestly think Shotton just didn’t need a proper cake bakery.”
Going forward the business will be continuing to operate on Just Eat and Uber Eats and they will be increasing their delivery radius to cover areas outside of Shotton and Connahs Quay.
