POLICE officers made a life-saving intervention to help a collapsed elderly person.

Inspector Lukes Hughes, of the Wrexham City policing team, said at about 10.30pm on Monday an off duty officer got in touch regarding their elderly neighbour - whom they had found collapsed in the garden.

He said: "She was soaking wet and it was apparent that she had been outside for a number of hours. Immediate medical attention was sought and officers took her to hospital themselves.

"I understand she is recovering well. It's great to see that as a community we look out for each other, thank you. I dread to think what would have happened if she had not been found until the morning."
