The MET Office has issued an amber weather warning for snow and ice in parts of North Wales this morning.

A yellow weather warning was originally put in place for Wrexham and Flintshire, but the update means that heavy snow is likely to cause significant disruption through Thursday into early Friday morning.

The warning is in place from 12pm today (Thursday, March 9).

The MET Office has said: "Travel delays on roads are likely, stranding some vehicles and passengers.

"Some delays and cancellations to rail and bus services are likely.

"There is a good chance that some rural communities could become cut off.

"Power cuts are likely and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected.

"Injuries from slips and falls are likely on icy surfaces."
