A BROUGHTON man is to be sentenced after admitting his part in an affray incident at a pub.

Graham Dowry, of Broughton Hall Road, appeared at Mold Crown Court on Friday morning.

The 36-year-old admitted an offence of affray, committed on March 12 last year at the Fox and Grapes pub in Hawarden.

He also admitted assaulting Lauren Eldred on that date.

Dafydd Roberts, defending, asked Judge Rhys Rowlands to adjourn the sentencing to a later date in order for a pre-sentence report about the defendant to be compiled.

He said: "He's a relatively lightly convicted working family man, and there are matters in his background which, I submit, will be relevant."

Judge Rowlands agreed to the adjournment, telling the defendant: "You have pleaded guilty, and that's important.

The Leader:

"It will attract credit, that is a reduction in your sentence, when you return to court.

"I order a full pre-sentence report; don't read anything into that, or the fact I'm granting you bail.

"All sentencing options are open on the next occasion."

The defendant will be back in court in April for sentence.
