A Wrexham man has been fined after "squaring up to door staff" at a nightclub he'd been asked to leave.

Nikrolay Nikolaev, of Erddig Road, appeared at Wrexham Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old admitted using threatening or abusive words or behaviour in Brook Street.

Prosecutor Justin Espie told the court that on January 29, Nikolaev had been escorted out of ATIK in the city centre after becoming intoxicated and "irate."

He was arrested for disorderly behaviour after he "squared up to door staff," Mr Espie said - but later made full admissions as to his behaviour when interviewed by police.

Emma Simoes, defending, told the court that her client was a man of previous good character who "rarely goes out to drink."

She explained he'd been out to celebrate a friend's birthday and accepted afterwards that his behaviour on the night had been "very unsavoury."

District Judge Gwyn Jones told the defendant: "You're a working man who, on this occasion, had drunk more than was good for him.

"You were a bit upset, being asked to leave the club - things were said which shouldn't have been said."

Taking his guilty plea into account, the District Judge fined Nikolaev £100 and ordered him to pay a £40 victim surcharge, as well as £85 costs.
