SIXTY new jobs are set to be introduced to Airbus' Broughton site, it has been confirmed.

The firm has announced it will be transferring work over to north Wales from its factory in Bremen, Germany.

The move is expected to materialise next year, Airbus says.

A330 wings are currently partially equipped at Broughton before being flown by Beluga transporter to Bremen for the final wing equipping line.

But, the latest announcement means that the wing equipping work will be relocated to the north Wales site in 2024/25.

As a result, 60 further jobs will be created at the Broughton factory, where over 4,000 people work.

A spokesperson for Airbus said: "We can confirm that a package of A330 wing equipping work will be transferred from Bremen to the Broughton plant in North Wales.

"The transfer will materialise in 2024/25 and entail 60 full time roles at Broughton.

"Broughton is already home to the A330 wingbox manufacturing process, so the move will help to increase operational sustainability by reducing the number of significant wing movements in the assembly process."

A Welsh Government spokesperson added: "The Welsh Government welcomes the news of 60 new jobs at Airbus in North Wales. The transfer of A330 wing equipping work to Wales further reinforces Broughton’s leadership position as a global centre of excellence for wing manufacturing."
