A Wrexham primary school has become the latest to adopt a Litter Free Zone and are ready for regular litter picks.

Ysgol Llan-y-Pwll has received its free litter-picking kit by Caru Cymru, and was visited by Wrexham Council’s Caru Cymru Project Lead Emma Watson along with Keep Wales Tidy Project Officer Shane Hughes.

A safety talk and litter pick took place with the pupils and teachers taking part, and two sacks of litter was collected from the immediate area with plans to extend to their local park for regular picks.

To get involved in the Litter Free Zone project, businesses and schools are invited to ‘adopt’ an area local to them and help keep it clean through regular litter picks.

Schools are given their own free litter picking kit when they sign up. The kits include:

  • a pack of 5 or 10 litter pickers
  • high visibility vests
  • hoops for bags
  • green or red sacks for litter picks

You can also request equipment in a smaller size, for younger children.
