RYAN Reynolds has described being involved in the takeover of Wrexham AFC as the 'greatest experience' of his life.

The Deadpool actor became co-chairman of the club alongside friend and fellow actor Rob McElhenney in early 2021.

Since then, the club has been on a rollercoaster of emotions - but there is certainly renewed hope surrounding the Racecourse.

And Ryan was quick to highlight exactly what the club meant to him during an interview with the BBC.

He was spotted at the Racecourse ground ahead of the club's huge FA Cup fourth-round clash v Sheffield United.

He was then in the stands speaking to Gary Lineker, Mark Hughes and Alan Shearer on BBC's pre-match coverage.

Talking about the takeover, Ryan said: "It's been the greatest experience of my entire life and an adventure unlike anything else."

He added that the Wrexham project is going to be one that lasts 'multi-decades'.

Going on to talk about the community, he added: "This club and this town and all it entails is just magic. We're here to support this community and club and raise it as high as possible."

Ryan added that he 'loves' arriving at the Racecourse early to meet up with locals.

He said: "I love getting here early because I get to meet some of the locals and some of the supporters who have been coming here for decades and decades. I met a supporter the other day who's grandfather's ashes were scattered across this field.

"I look at this place like a church, it's what it really is, and it's bore a special place in my heart and in my entire family's hearts and I think across the pond as well.

"In Canada, where I'm from, people are obsessed with this club and this community and so are people in the United States. It's been pretty incredible."

Former Wales star Mark Hughes, who is himself from Ruabon, hailed Ryan and Rob's impact on the community as 'phenomenal'.

And Ryan made sure that Rob didn't miss out on the electric FA Cup tie atmosphere either.

Ahead of the match, with the crowd singing the Declans Swans hit 'Always Sunny In Wrexham' chant in honour of Rob and Ryan - a visibly excited Ryan turned his phone towards the crowd and cameras showed that Rob was on the other end of the call listening on.

Rob is currently stateside, filming scenes for season 16 of 'It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia'.

You just can't fault that level of 'Bro-mance'!
