Leader readers have reacted to the news that the North and South Wales Bank Wetherspoon pub has closed its doors.

It would seem the popular pub on High Street was famous for its cheap pints and long walks to the toilet, and was a hub for sports fans to meet and enjoy watching on the big screen.

The pub closed its doors for the final time on Sunday (January 15) after it was sold by the JD Wetherspoon chain.

Reacting to the news on the Leader Facebook page, Dan Roberts said: “Gutted, always start a night out there.”

Laura Taylor added: “Nooooooo, where are we gonna watch the rugby?”

Jen Challenger Griffiths agreed, saying: “The meeting place for the rugby. The buzz was awesome on the big screen, things will never be the same. Sad.”

Debbie 'Talbot' Rogers commented: "This was somewhere cheap and cheerful to watch the sport on the big screen. In a cost of living crisis this is a big loss."

For many, it was the end of an era. The pub had once been a bank before reopening under the famous pub chain.

Andrea Ellis said: “I worked here when it first opened, how sad.”

The pub has been sold and many are wondering what may take its place in the city centre, with the most popular theory being a wine bar.

But for others, the biggest concern is where the toilets will go if it does reopen.

Pennie Evans said: "Whatever it is move the toilets downstairs."

Debbie 'Talbot' Rogers added: "People only go to the toilets in 'Narnia' because it’s a spoons and it’s known for it, and because it’s cheap. If it becomes an expensive eatery or wine bar, it won’t be worth the hike."
