A WREXHAM win is not so hard to come by these days, in fact they happen more often than not at this moment in time.

The dark days at the Racecourse have well and truly been replaced by plenty of optimism for the years ahead.

The takeover of the club by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney has evidently breathed new life into the club.

And with that has come gradually better results and an even better atmosphere at the Racecourse ground which is averaging nearly 10,00 fans a game this season.

The Reds are now chasing the National League title once more and eyeing a return to the English Football League following what will be 15 years of hurt come May 2023.

And one thing that has certainly been clear to see this season is the special bond between the club's supporters and its players.

The hugely-successful Welcome to Wrexham documentary on Disney Plus was an eye-opener in terms of giving an insight into just how down to Earth some of the current crop of players really are.

And among the best of them is star striker Paul Mullin, who has already earned himself legendary status among fans for his stunning performances to date.

His connection with the Racecourse faithful is a sight to behold as he has proven time and time again.

And Mullin is such a vital part of the team, that he even has his own post-match tradition with the fans now too.

After every win, he marches over to the crowd to give them the three punches of the air which have become expected of him. The crowd then responds with a cheer to each fist pump he throws in their direction.

It's an act of passion and joy which has connected player and club more and more to one another.

You can watch an example of that special moment between the player and the crowd following the magical 4-3 win over Coventry City here ...

'Super' Paul Mullin, as the Wrexham fans affectionately call him, signed for Wrexham from Cambridge United in July 2021 and his goalscoring record ever since has been nothing short of sensational.

The prolific forward, 28, has bagged 44 goals in just 63 National League matches for Wrexham to date and is also the leading goalscorer in this season's FA Cup with six goals to his name.

This season, Mullin will be looking to fire the Reds back to the EFL in what is looking like being a fierce title race between them and current league leaders Notts County.

But, whatever happens, supporters of the club know they're lucky to have him on their side and you can clearly see that he means a lot to them - as they do to him too.
