A FAMILY has paid tribute to the founder of a business synonymous with Wrexham.

Patricia Constance Davies, died peacefully at her home in The Homestead, on Christmas Eve 2022, aged 76.

Mother-of-four Pat was known by many across the region for the business Pat's Coaches, which she set up in 1976 with then husband David Davies.

Her death was unexpected but the family felt lucky to have had time with her, after a scare from a serious a health concern 18 months previously.

Son Mark Davies said: "Christmas Day was hard."

Daughter Carol Jones added: "Mum would normally come to my house, so it felt a bit of a blur."

Hardworking Pat, known to be firm but fair with staff, retired from the business 10 years ago but would often visit the depot, now in Southsea.

The family said: "If she had something to say, it was said but she had a heart of gold.

"She was just fantastic, so caring and loving. She idolised her grandchildren."

And beyond the business, it was family that meant the most to Pat.

The family said: "She was a big family person, she loved the family around her, especially at Christmas time.

"And New Year's Day was always at mum's, with the whole family there. She loved it."

Gwersyllt-born Pat also loved her holidays, having only recently sold her caravan based at Towyn.

In an unexpected surprise for the family, Pat had attended a dinner dance just two weeks before Christmas, having earlier said she wouldn't be able to make it due to feeling unwell.

The family added: "She was really quite a remarkable lady. She was a grafter, from day one put everything into the business, but family was her life.

"She tried to give us all what she'd never had herself. She will be incredibly missed by family and friends."

Pat leaves behind children Keith, Colette, Mark and Carol. She was mother-in-law of Michelle, Kim and Alan, and a loving and devoted grandmother of 10 and great-grandmother of 18.

A funeral service and committal will take place at Pentrebychan Crematorium on Wednesday, January 18, at noon. A coach will be available from the Pat's Coaches yard, leaving at 11.30am, and returning after the service.
