OUR post earlier this week regarding our readers' best memories from the Racecourse Kop has certainly got people talking.

On Wednesday (December 28), we asked readers on our Facebook page 'What are your favourite memories of the Kop at the Racecourse?'

We did so as it is set to be demolished to make way for a new Kop which will take the stadium's capacity up from 10,000 to 15,500.

The project was given the green light by Wrexham Council's planning committee in early November.

It is hoped that, as well as boosting Wrexham's facilities, the new-look Kop can also bring international football back to the Racecourse.

It is being said that the Kop could be ready for use as early as the 2024/25 season, although there has been no confirmation on this as yet.

Now, following earlier comments about your memories, we have received hundreds more.

Here are some of the best we have come across ...

Jonathan Davies said: "My first date with my wife Sian Davies was on the Kop (5th May 1979) in my regular place under the old Border stand.

"We watched Wrexham play Sunderland. Sadly we lost 1-2 but It was a great result for us overall as we are approaching our 40th wedding anniversary next year and hope to re-live that moment in the new Kop. Hopefully with a better result on the pitch!"

Duncan Griffiths wrote: "Watching Wales beating England, Mike England’s first game as manager. It was a bit rough in the old kop that afternoon I was only a 15 year old. Great days though."

Delwyn Ellis added: "I watched Wales V Northern Ireland back in the early 70s - Remember it being really cold - my elder brother and his friends took me as I must've been 7 or 8 I'm guessing - Happy memories."

Nigel Davies said: "Standing in the Kop in the early 70's with my Dad listening to two elderly and very Welsh guys chanting, 'The referee is a one sided referee'. Looking back and comparing what chants are like now it was both charming and funny."

Sam Smith told us: "Standing in the same spot at the back right 3 posts in for every home game for a few years with my dad."

Andy Martin said: "Wrexham vs Boston last game of the season to stay up in the football league what a day that was."
