A CHARITY Christmas single project made entirely in Wrexham has collected £2,200.

Every year, Dale Irving comes up with another idea to support a good cause through the power of music.

In 2020, he raised funds for the Unbeatable Eva campaign in honour of Eva Williams, of Marford, who was diagnosed with an incurable high-grade diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG).

Last Christmas, Dale helped raise over £1,000 for Wrexham Foodbank with the help of Osian Jones who wrote a song about his late father.

This year, he's joined forces with children at Borras Park Primary School to release a single called 'Open Your Heart'.

The other children who sing on the track are guitar students of Dale's, as well as some of his friends' kids who wanted to take part.

And that, coupled along with an auction, has collected a sum of £2,200 for Nightingale House Hospice.

Dale told the Leader: "We've raised a fantastic £2,200 for our Christmas charity single "Open Your Heart".

"The single itself made £1,400 and we also auctioned a signed AFC Wrexham shirt and signed Ryan Reynolds Dead Pool Blu Ray combined for £800!

"I bought the Wrexham shirt and Blu Ray with my own money. A friend of mine managed to sort out getting the Wrexham shirt signed by all the players and manager so I owe him a big thanks for that!

"It's been nine months of hard work putting the music together and doing the fundraising, I have a lot of people to thank. Firstly, the children and staff of Borras Park Primary school and all the other children involved. They made the song very special singing at the end, and hope it's something they will remember in years to come.

"I also have to thank the staff, especially Sarah Povey, at Nightingale House, for really embracing and supporting this project. They're such a great charity and do amazing things for families in difficult circumstances.

"Thank you to Jon and Sharon Roberts of Wrexham Lager and Fjones for their support and spreading the word and for also getting Ollie Palmer to visit the school!"

"Thanks also to everyone who donated a prize to put in the raffle. And finally everyone who downloaded or bought a CD copy of Wrexham's Own Christmas single.

"Times are tough for everyone right now, so I really appreciate everyone's generous donations. Wrexham has such a great community and really come out and show their support when it comes to local fundraising and helping each other out."

Sarah Povey from Nightingale House added: "We could not be more grateful for the support we have received from Dale, he has gone above and beyond organising a very successful fundraiser.

"The Christmas Single featuring Borras school children is brilliant, they should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved. Thanks to everyone who downloaded and entered the raffle, the funds you have raised will be a great help to Nightingale House."
