A WREXHAM nursery has raised nearly £1,000 for Nightingale House Hospice.

Sapling's Children's Nursery took part in the Rudolph Run which saw children get into the festive spirit by ditching thier usual activites to head outdoors equipped with their antlers provided by Nightingale House and sing Christmas songs - including of course a rendition of, 'Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer'.

Parents, family, and friends of the nursery all dug deep to support the event which saw the generous amount raised.

Sapling's Nicki Morris-Jones admitted she was taken back at how much they were able to rasie for the hospice: "I was surprised at how much we managed to raise, as you know, this time of year it's a big ask.

"People have been really kind, I'm absolutely over the moon and the children had a great time."

When asked why the nursery decided to choose Nightingale House Hospice as their chosen charity, Nicki added: "We've always collected for Children in Need, and as much as we love that brilliant charity, one of our members of staff lost her father earlier this year, and he had a short spell at Nightingale House.

The Leader:

"I did say to her at the time, if we're ever raising money, we will raise it for Nightingale House. Sure enough the time came and I asked if she'd like to do it in memory of her dad."

It costs £4,041,617 each year to run Nightingale House Hospice which is equivalent to £11,073 per day.

Nightingale House Hospice is always looking ways to keep its finances afloat during this difficult time.

Most of its running costs are met through fundraising and other channels of income generation that include its on-site café and retail outlets that make a significant contribution towards maintaining services for those with life-limiting illnesses within palliative care.
