A British household will be divided today as the mum and one son supports Wales - while dad and the other lad follow England.

Bronwyn Towns, 28, and her oldest Joel will be hoping Gareth Bale's side triumph in the World Cup clash.

But her husband Mark Towns, 35, and their second son Leon are backing the Three Lions to win.

England and Wales face off in their final Group B game at 7pm tonight (29/11).

And Bronwyn, who lives in Plymouth with Mark and the boys, said: "My eldest is Welsh through and through.

"But my youngest was born in England, and although he's a bit too young to know what's going on this World Cup - we think he'll be cheering for them next time.

"Me and Mark have a friendly rivalry as well and always have done since we met. But for 90 minutes on Tuesday, we'll be at war!"

Bronwyn met Mark, who is in the Royal Navy, at a hotel they both worked at in Llangollen, back in 2014.

They immediately hit it off, but their respective roots have always made for a friendly rivalry between them when it comes to sport.

The pair were together for three years, before they had their first son, Joel, five, who was born in Wrexham.

They married a year later, on July 7, 2018 -  the same day as England v Sweden in the World Cup quarter finals - and earlier this year had their second son Leon, six months,  who was born in Plymouth.

Joel is already a keen footballer and plays in goal for a local team.

And, just like his mum, his loyalties lie with Wales.

But Bronwyn says she expects Leon to grow up supporting England, which will take the family rivalry to the next level.

Bronwyn, who works as a teaching assistant, said: "If they're anything like their mum and dad, when they grow up they'll be a rivalry between them.

"Both sets of our parents are one half Welsh and one half English which is probably where we get it from to be honest.

"Joel loves footy and he plays in goal for a local team in our area.

"As I said, Leon is a bit young to support anyone just yet - but we're confident it won't be long.

"It will be tense in our household on the day of the game - we'll just have to wait and see who has the bragging rights come next week."

The last time England and Wales played was in October 2020.

The Three Lions won 3-0 in the Wembley clash.
