AN INTERACTIVE exotic animal experience has found a new permanent home in Flintshire.

J&S Exotics has been running for just over 12 months and seeks to educate people about often misunderstood animals.

Stephen Higginson co-owns the business with his girlfriend and says his wide collection of exotic animals are made up from both his personal collection and animals he has rescued or rehomed.

The new permanent base is located in Homefield Nursey Garden Centre in Tan Ian, Holywell and is set to open in the New Year following a period of closure and reduced hours for the garden centre.

Stephen said: "We started just over a year ago after we realised we could use our large exotic animal collection to educate people about these often misunderstood animals.

J&S Exotic's often stage meet and greet shows throughout the year for guests to enagage with the animals.

He added: "We have done private bookings as well as special events for Halloween, the queen's jubilee and we're really excited about our upcoming Christmas show.

"We will be opening in the new year on the weekends to allow pre booked groups to come and meet the animals on a more intimate basis."

"Our previous events have all been met with great receptions so we can't wait to open. We're not looking to make a profit from the animals, every penny we get goes directly to caring for the animals.

"We just want to show people that these animals aren't as scary as they might think."

J&S Exotics are also gearing up for their next show which will be Christmas themed and taking place at the Homefield Nursey garden centre which is available to book and includes a meet and greet with Santa, mince pies, and a chance to meet some of their animals including snakes, lizards and bugs.

There is no set date yet for when they will take up permanent residency at the garden centre but it is hoped to be up and running by the end of January.
