THE FOOTBALL world was shook yesterday as Manchester United terminated club legend Cristiano Ronaldo's contract.

That followed on from an explosive interview with journalist Piers Morgan where the Portuguese attacker laid into what is now his former club.

As a result, fans are now speculating as to where the 37-year-old will end up after Portugal's 2022 World Cup campaign comes to an end in Qatar.

Some are guessing at the MLS in America, while others have noted that Newcastle United and Chelsea could be in with a chance of signing the superstar.

However, a little closer to home, some fans - perhaps jokingly and perhaps not - are predicting that Ronaldo could be tempted to don the Red of Wrexham come 2023.

Club co-owner Rob McElhenney previously teased supporters about the Racecourse being a 'suitable' location for Ronaldo.

Back in July, Ronaldo watched on from the stands as Wrexham lost out 4-1 to a United side in a friendly at Carrington training facilities.

Now, fans are living in hope that he will choose a life in North Wales over Los Angeles or London.

Many Wrexham supporters have been taking to Twitter to give their views on the announcement of Ronaldo's departure from United on Tuesday, November 22.

@Dilskybab wrote: "I’m calling it now, Cristiano Ronaldo is going to end up at Wrexham."

@Stonedogmusic added: "Ronaldo to Wrexham. You heard it here first."

@ChrisHardingPP said: "Ronaldo should sign for Wrexham. Deadpool money, and all that."

Ben Wiesner wrote: "Hey @RMcElhenney, is @VancityReynolds using his superhero power to sign Ronaldo? #WrexhamFX #Wrexham #Ronaldo"

Others were thinking a little more outside the box.

Neil Lewis wrote: "Plot twist. Cristiano Ronaldo to buy @ManUtd  NOW, that could be a Netflix documentary series to rival @Wrexham_AFC."

Meanwhile, others were just not sure whether Ronaldo would fit into Phil Parkinson's system.

Marcus Davies said: "Keep your Messi's, your Ronaldo's WE'VE GOT SUPER PAUL MULLIN."

Wrexham currently sit top of the National League table, having won 14 of their first 20 matches of the 22/23 campaign.

They will be hoping to end 15 years of heart-break come the end of the season and return to the English Football League. Perhaps Ronaldo can help with that?
