Reading Well collections
Aura Libraries is delighted to offer Reading Well collections at our libraries. The collections, created by the Reading Agency, support people to understand and manage their health and wellbeing. Reading is a great way to relax and feel better and it can help people deal with some of life's pressures.
The books are available in English and Welsh and are all recommended by health experts, as well as people with lived experience of the conditions covered. You can be recommended a title by a health professional, or you can visit your local library and take a book out yourself.
The Reading Agency recently launched a brand new booklist: Reading Well for Teens. This list of titles provides recommended reading to help teenagers understand and talk about their mental health and wellbeing, and is targeted at teenagers aged 13-18 years. The list includes 27 titles and a range of supporting digital resources that provide quality-assured information, advice and support to help teens better understand their feelings, handle difficult experiences and boost confidence.
Some of the recommended books suggest useful self-help techniques; there are also personal stories, graphic books, and fiction. The list includes a range of topics including managing feelings, neurodiversity, body image, bereavement, social anxiety, learning about life, boosting confidence, surviving online, and sexuality, gender identity and mental health.
The Reading Well for Teens titles are available for anyone to borrow from libraries and can also be recommended by health and social care professionals, teachers and anyone else working to support teens.
For more information about the Reading Well for Teens collection contact your local library. Library phone numbers and email addresses can be found via the Aura Wales website, here: www.aura.wales/contact
