Aaron defied these odds and, during his teenage years, was recognised as one of Welsh football's most promising talents and picked up by Shrewsbury Town.

Before turning to martial arts, he also represented Wales' under 13's side, playing alongside Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey and Joe Allen who have all become full international players.

Wrexham-born Aaron, was later given a terminal cancer diagnosis and underwent a major operation and 8 rounds of chemotherapy.

After receiving the all-clear from Cancer in 2019, Aaron was back fighting eight months later.

Since making his return, the flyweight has won and been involved in six fights, winning three, drawing one and losing two.

The fighter has been nominated for the 'Fighting Spirit' Award in the 13th Annual Fighters Only World MMA Awards which takes place on December 10 in Las vegas.

Aaron previously spoke to the Leader about this and said: "It means a lot, my aim is to promote Cystic Fibrosis as a good story. I used to try and hide it in football growing up as I didn't want it to influence things, but when I moved into MMA, I wanted to promote it and give people hope.

"The best thing about this award is it's not for fighting ability or sporting ability, it's about spirit and doing it for the community."
